ABUJA — A man, whose name was simply given as Dafe and said to be from Oghara in DeltaState, was allegedly shot dead by unknown gunmen on Saturday.
An eyewitness, who gave his name as Etim Okon, said the incident took place along Aba\Ikot-Ekpene road in AkwaIbomState.
He said that the gunmen, numbering about five in a Sports Utility Van, SUV, overtook a black Camry car, blocked it and ordered the victim, who he said should be in his early 30s, out, then shot him.
According to the witness, “I was in a commercial bus heading towards Aba from Uyo, when the SUV overtook the car ahead of us.
“They ordered the occupant out, shot him and put him in the booth of the car and drove off.
“Before he was shot, he was shouting ‘my name is Dafe, I am not an informant.’ And one of the assailants said ‘yes we know you. You are from Oghara.’
“One of the gunmen drove the victim’s car.
“The gunmen zoomed off with the victim’s body to an unknown destination. We were even afraid in the bus because we thought they were armed robbers.
“It was as if they trailed him because it was only his car that was stopped.”
